The Photo: This image was created during a
commercial shoot for a popular day spa/salon. For this project, we had
a number of models and stylists in the studio. The client and I determined
that one of the things we wanted to capture was a "playful emotion" between
these two models - depicting an "upbeat modern couple."
The models had never seen each other, let alone worked together, so it
took a few minutes for them to loosen up and establish a "playful" mood.
It always helps when models can be animated enough to reveal that certain
emotion. This type of shoot can be a lot of fun even though there can
be a lot of pressure to have the models "perform."
Equipment Used: I used a Rolleiflex 6008 Integral
camera with a Schneider K-Krueznach Tele-Xenar f2.8 /180mm lens, shot
on Fuji Provia IIIF color transparency film. To handle the lighting, I
used: Broncolor Pulso A2 Power Pack, Primo 4 Power Pack, and a couple
of Norman 2400B flash heads, powered by a Norman P-2000 Power Pack, directed
onto the background.
